Early Morning Tragedy In Ibadan, ‘Trailer’ Crushes Several To Death


Tragedy struck in Ibadan early Tuesday when an articulated truck popularly called ‘Trailer’ crushed several people to death including a mother of twins and her twin children.
Eye witness account had it that the articulated truck which left Beere, the very center of Ibadan lost control as a result of brake failure after offloading cement bags in Beere.
David Ajiboye, a reporter with one of the wave making radio stations in the city, Fresh FM 105.9 who spoke with PMParrotng.comon the phone confirmed seeing people wailing after witnessing the mutilation of human beings by the vehicle.

David recounted “the trailer was coming from Beere heading towards Challenge. When it got to Oja Oba, in front of the Central Mosque, it lost its brakes and started killing people as it rolled freely down to Idi Arere.
“Policemen have not been able to confirm the no of people killed but a mother of twins and her twins were confirmed by all present here. Over 20 victims were counted by onlookers. Some of them may still be alive.

“Many of the victims were by the roadside taking their children to school or going to work.”
PMParrotng.com reporter, Kunle Gazali who is still at the scene also confirmed that the Driver of the ill-fated ‘trailer’ has disappeared.
Said Kunle “some of our people here believe he has been taken away by the Police so that he will not be lynched.”

Oderinlo also informed us that he was saved by sheer providence.
Men of the Oyo State Fire Service are still at the scene of the accident as at the time of filing this report.
